Funds of the Bucks County Foundation

Supporting Organizations:

The Newtown Community Foundation (www.Newtowncf.org) is a supporting organization of the Bucks County Foundation, created in 2005 to focus on philanthropy in the Newtown area. Funds established through the Newtown Community Foundation are indicated by (NCF). All actions by and appointments to NCF are approved by the Bucks County Foundation’s Distribution Committee.

Scholarship Funds:

The Bob Schultz Memorial Scholarship– provides college scholarships to Level 9/10 USAG registered gymnasts in Pennsylvania. The award will be given at the PA State Championships. (Students with a minimum 3.2 GPA should apply through their coaches )

The Scott Mills Memorial Scholarship Fund– (NCF) provides college scholarships to students at Council Rock South High School who attended Holland Middle School, are active in community activities, and have participated in softball, basketball, or field hockey. (Students should apply through the school guidance office.)

The Happ Grover Fund– provides college scholarships to Central Bucks School District area students who choose to attend Delaware Valley College or Bucks County Community College. (Students should apply through the high school guidance department or the financial aid office of either college.)

The Carolyn Benner Fund– provides four year college scholarships to Pennridge High School students who intend to major in music. (Students should apply through the guidance department of the high school.)

The Brandon W. Boger Memorial Scholarship Fund– provides college scholarships to students who are outstanding in sports, academics and leadership at Central Bucks East. (Students should apply through the guidance department at the high school.)

The Janet K. Koziol Memorial Scholarship Fund– provides college scholarships to girls who are members of the Central Bucks East High School Track Team. (Students should apply through the guidance department or the track coach.)

The Jake R. Revere Memorial Scholarship Fund– provides scholarships to students at Central Bucks East, with an interest in Theater Arts or community service. (Students should apply through the guidance department of their high school.)

The Gina Narisi-Griffin and Victor Narisi Memorial Scholarship Fund– provides educational scholarships to two students at William Tennent High School, one to a student attending a college or university and planning to become a teacher, and one to a student who has overcome specific challenges and is planning to attend either college or a trade or occupational training school. (Students should apply through the high school guidance department.)

The Cole T. Ballay “Carpe Diem” Memorial Scholarship Fund – provides scholarships for continuing education to students who have played soccer at Central Bucks East High School. (Students should apply through the soccer coaches at the school.) www.coleballay.org

The 1st Lt. Colby James Umbrell Memorial Fund– provides scholarships to students who play football, or baseball at Central Bucks East High School, (students should apply through the coaches at the school), the “Eternal Gratitude” scholarship to a student at Central Bucks East High School who demonstrates patriotism, and a Lacrosse scholarship at Central Bucks South High School. (Students should apply through the guidance department or the coaches.)

Maurice Neinken Scholarship Fund– provides scholarships to students with financial needs, whose families have a historical connection to the garment manufacturing industry in Upper Bucks or Eastern Montgomery County- primarily the Quakertown, Pennridge, Palisades, and Souderton School District regions. (Students should apply through their school guidance departments, or can call the Foundation at 215-997-8566 for an application- available in January.)

The Jedd Hopkins Memorial Scholarship Fund– provides college scholarships to students at Central Bucks West High School with an interest in aeronautics, engineering or music. (Students should apply though their guidance department.)

The Kathryn Ritchie McKenna Scholarship Fund– provides scholarships to students meeting specific criteria at William Tennent High School. (Students should apply through their guidance department.)

The Anna Mae & William (Pete) Loftus Memorial Scholarship Fund– provides college scholarships to students from Harry S. Truman High School, residing in Levittown, pursuing a career in nursing, political science, law or other social science, who have a distinguished academic record. (Students should apply through the guidance office.)

Mrs. Mont’s “Pursuit of Excellence in English” Scholarship Fund– provides college scholarships to students planning to major in English or Writing at Pennview Memorial High School, in Pennview, NJ. (Students should apply though their guidance department.)

The Laura Jean Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund – provides college scholarships to students from Pennridge High School who demonstrate academic excellence, a commitment to community service, and have suffered a family loss. (Students should apply through their guidance department.)

The Mike Pettine Memorial Football Scholarship – provides college scholarships to graduating members of the Central Bucks West High School football team. (Students should apply through their guidance department.)

Bristol Jewish Center Scholarship Fund– provides college scholarships to students at Bristol Borough High School with an interest in history and a GPA between 2.5 and 3.5. (Students should apply though their guidance department.)

The Nathaniel Grupp Scholarship Fund– (NCF) provides scholarships to students at Council Rock South High School facing special challenges. (Students should apply though the guidance department of the high school.)

The Cindy Abovitz Memorial Scholarship Fund– (NCF) provides college scholarships to students at Council Rock South High School who plan to major in the health field or profession. (Students should apply through the high school guidance department.)

The Abigail Fishberg and Gregory Fishberg Memorial Scholarship Fund – (NCF) provides college scholarships to students at Council Rock North and South High Schools who excel in Science and Math and who attended Maureen Welch Elementary School. (Students should apply through the guidance department at the high school.) www.abigailfishberg.com

The Steven Pannepacker Memorial Scholarship Fund– (NCF) provides college scholarships for students at Council Rock North and South High Schools. (Students should apply though their guidance departments.)

The Robert Winters Memorial Scholarship Fund– (NCF) provides college scholarships to students who plan to major in education at Council Rock and Central Bucks High Schools. (Students should apply though their guidance departments.)

The Diane Orenberg Fernandez Memorial Scholarship Fund– (NCF) provides college scholarships to students at Council Rock South High School, interested in education. (Students should apply through the guidance department at the school.)

The Carleigh Marie Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund– (NCF)- provides college scholarships for students at Council Rock High School South. (Students should apply though their guidance department.)

The Janet Yanny Memorial Scholarship Fund – (NCF) provides college scholarships to students at Council Rock South High School, who attended Holland Middle School. Preference is given to those planning to major in education. (Students should apply through the guidance office.)

The Cullen Keffer Memorial Lacrosse Scholarship– (NCF) provides college scholarships to students who played on the Lacrosse team at Council Rock South High School. (Students should apply through the guidance office.)

The Ryan Lesher Student Athlete Memorial Scholarship Fund – (NCF) provides scholarships to Council Rock South and North High Schools for students who participated in multiple sports and maintained a GPA over 3.0. (Students should apply through the guidance departments of each school.)

The Shamus Digney Memorial Scholarship Fund – (NCF) provides college scholarships for students at Council Rock South High School who have played a sport, demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm and effort, and have a financial need. (Students should apply through the guidance department.)

The Dennis E. Warg Scholarship Fund – (NCF) provides college scholarships for students at Council Rock North and South High Schools who are athletes, representing their school, community and families with integrity and character, preference given to education majors. (Student should apply through their guidance department.)

The Megan Longo Villanella Memorial Scholarship Fund – (NCF) provides college scholarships to female graduating seniors from Council Rock North High School who have played in varsity level sports and who have participated in the arts. (Students should apply through the guidance office.)

Agency Endowment Funds:

Doylestown Area FISH– a permanent fund established to provide annual income to the named organization for support of its general mission. (Help for poor or needy families and/or individuals in the Central Bucks area.) Contributions can be made from the donation page or by contacting the agency. www.doylestownfish.org

Newtown Arts Company – (NCF) a permanent fund to support the general mission of the Arts Company and the Theater in Newtown. Contributions may be made to this fund at any time by contacting the organization or from the Foundation Donation page. www.newtownartscompany.com

Newtown Rotary Fund– (NCF) a permanent fund that benefits the many programs of the Newtown Rotary Club. Contributions may be made to this fund by contacting the Rotary.

The John E. Long Memorial Endowment Fund of Pearl S. Buck International– a permanent fund established in memory of past Board member John Long, to benefit the mission of PSBI. Donations may be made from the Foundation Donation page or by contacting the organization. www.psbi.org

Bristol Jewish Center Endowment for St. Mark Catholic School– a permanent fund established to provide annual support for the general educational needs of the Catholic School in Bristol. Donations may be made to this fund at any time through the Foundation Donation page or by contacting the school.

Bristol Jewish Center Endowment for Congregation Kol Emet Religious School– a permanent fund established to provide annual support for the general educational needs of the Kol Emet Religious School in Yardley. Donations may be made to this fund at any time through the Foundation Donation page or by contacting the Congregation.

The Bucks County Free Library Endowment Fund– a permanent fund created to provide annual income to the Free Library System throughout Bucks County. Contributions may be made to the Fund at any time from the Foundation Donation page, or by contacting the Library. www.buckslib.org

Field of Interest Funds:

Konopka Fund- a permanent fund established to provide grants to non-profit organizations that help animals.

Donor Directed Funds:

The Carolyn Benner Fund– a permanent fund establishing annual grants to specific organizations, named by the donor.

Donor Advised Funds:

The BluBall Fund – a permanent fund created by business people in Central Bucks County who hold an annual “BluBall”, to support area charitable organizations. Proceeds of the event partially fund this effort; the organizers of the event and fund initiate grant recommendations.

The Bristol Borough Education Fund – a permanent fund established to provide innovative educational opportunities to students within the Bristol Borough School District area, outside of the normal school curriculum, with grants recommended by educators and an Advisory Trustee Committee. Applications can be made through the school faculty or the Trustees.

The UBS Fund– (NCF) a permanent fund created by UBS to make annual grants based on the company representatives’ recommendations. Applications are not being accepted; grant recommendations are initiated by the company.

Unrestricted Funds:

The Mary Ceader Trust– a permanent fund established to serve the best interests of Bucks County residents as determined by the Bucks County Foundation. Grants awarded twice annually; application information available by calling the Foundation or from our website. www.buckscountyfoundation.org

The La-Mel Garden Fund – a permanent fund established to make annual grants to non-profit agencies serving the Perkasie / Sellersville area of Bucks County. Application forms are available in September by calling the Foundation at 215-997-8566.

The Charter Donor Fund of the Newtown Community Foundation– a permanent fund that serves as the primary source for operating the Foundation in Newtown and grant making in the Newtown Area. Applications are not yet being accepted; information is available at www.Newtowncf.org.
